Ever Maddening Mandala
Black Bear
The black bear, preoccupied as a man,
lost in thought, unsure of the path, hungry,
never sensed me sitting three feet away.
And if you use the word joy in a poem
one more time, I’ll killya. The argument
from Homo Deus that I don’t exist,
I’m just a plot line made up from random,
unrelated events, has merit. Fear
of death is the price I pay for my story.
Do not disturb its progress! Or mine.
